Imagine
Imagine
the ocean...Imagine a rough weather with wave heights up to
three or four meters high... Imagine travelling on a conventional,
but unsuitable vessel for this kind of run...
Now imagine facing these rough conditions in a hybrid craft,
a revolutionary concept cutting through the waves and offering
comfortable conditions despite the ocean swell. Imagine being
part of this exiting new concept.
The
Concept
This
revolutionary concept is the Ultra Slender Power Trimaran (C-Rex).
Initially, the project was mainly to find a boat to operate
the Mauritius-Reunion route in the Indian Ocean, considering
the importance of the air traffic between the two islands. However
the research undertaken demonstrates the viability of this project
for countless routes across the world, routes suffering similar
swell conditions as the Indian Ocean route. The idea then was
to fulfill the growing demand for the supply of fast ferries
to ferry operators around the world specially on open seas.
Craig Loomes Designs (CLD), a New Zealand based naval architect/builder
has come up with a revolutionary concept of fast ferry.
The
Solution
According
to Craig Loomes Design, the future for fast ferry markets as
well as the unique solution for a fast ferry service lies in
the Ultra Slender Power Trimaran, named the C-Rex. In spite
of the "trimaran" label, the C-Rex is in fact a slender
mono hull with two sponsons acting as stabilizers. |

The
C-Rex has been developed recently by the Royal Navy (the
VSV for very slender vessel) and its sea keeping abilities have
proven to be excellent in almost any sea conditions.
